Loaded the boat and the fam and headed for Austin. Almost there. The hills are getting higher. Oh yeah, we love this. "Maybe we could move here. We always say that. Well, maybe?!?!?" Got to Chris (J's brother) and Vanessa's. Hung out with the other Gecks. Had a great time (minus the occasional fit). Visited my old youth pastor's church and loved it. "Perfect, we already have a church here! It's a sign." Skied Lake Austin on pure glass - "another sign". Hit the local parks and dives. "This is right up our alley." Decided to drive around and look for homes with a view. "Yiiiiiiiikes! This does not look like a sign." Our ideas are apparently bigger than our bank accounts! OK, so maybe we'll just keep visiting the relatives here.
Now onto Wimberley to stay with my cousin's family. "Wow, not too far from Austin... a bonus!" Cute, quaint downtown... lovely! "What a great place to raise a family... maybe it's more affordable." Parked at cuz's house. Hung out in the river, watched deer and turkey in the mornings, walked and biked in the hills. "Wow, now we could definitely do this every day. What's that smell? Oh, sulfur. No city water? Did you say brown recluse? Scorpions too? ...Stop, focus on the views!" Decided to search once more for a house (with a view) on the market. "YIIIIKES again!"
All in all, it was a great vacation. Jason had previously earned the title Clark W. Griswold on trips, so he decided to travel without a plan this time. Flexibility is great, but I must admit, I was missing my Sparky a little. We also decided that a family of four (with tiny time bombs in the back seat) is a little much to dump on others, so perhaps next time we'll find alternate lodging. Another lesson learned: Do not covet. Be thankful for what you have. Pretty views bring stinky water!

Give me a break. You know you like those songs! Glad you had fun in the hills. We would move back there in a heartbeat.
